In 1999, Iceland became the first food retailer to guarantee that its complete own label range is free of GM ingredients. Last month, another US jury awarded huge damages against the chemicals giant Monsanto to a couple who successfully argued that use of the glyphosate-based weedkiller Roundup caused their cancers.
