Mumsnet and Iceland Foods have partnered to create a new range of quality meals designed to support families during times when they don’t have time to cook. The meals have been taste-tested by staff at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and the charity’s child ambassadors, who gave their stamp of approval for flavour, quality, and family appeal.
Available exclusively online and in-store at Iceland and The Food Warehouse, the ready meals launch on 8th April and are set to provide a range of convenient and cost-effective food options for families when they find themselves short on time.
The five new meals are Mumsnet’s first branded food products and contain one of your five-a-day, high vegetable content and low salt content, with no added sugars, no emulsifiers, artificial ingredients or preservatives. The meals are made with quality ingredients and could all be created at home from scratch using cupboard ingredients. The range has been designed for families to have something in the freezer for busy days when they may not have time to cook from scratch.
Mumsnet and Iceland collaborated to develop the ready meals, which include family favourites Fantastic Fish Pie, Classic Cottage Pie and Super Spaghetti Bolognese as well as Marvellous Mac & Cheese and Tremendous Chicken Tikka and Rice.
Priced at just £2 each, 5 pence of each sale will be donated directly to Alder Hey Children’s Charity to support Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, one of Europe’s biggest and busiest children’s hospitals and an established UK leader in paediatric research. Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation will then match the total raised up to the value of an additional £50,000.
Paul Dhaliwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Iceland Foods, said: “We’re delighted to be exclusively stocking the new Mumsnet range, and we’re pleased to share that a portion of the sales will be going directly to Alder Hey.”
“The range is part of our ongoing commitment to providing healthy choices for time poor families at affordable prices.”
Mumsnet is the UK’s largest network for parents, with around 8 million unique visitors each month and garners an impressive 100 million page views. Founded in 2000, it has evolved into one of the most influential online platforms for parents. The new meals mark the first time a Mumsnet branded product has hit the shelves.
Justine Roberts, Mumsnet Founder and CEO, said: “Mumsnet’s mission is to make parents’ lives easier, and we’re really pleased to have partnered with Iceland to produce a range of kids’ ready meals that will do just that.
“We know from the thousands of conversations on-site that it can be difficult for busy parents to find the right balance between convenience and nutrition when feeding their kids. Our new range has been carefully created from healthy ingredients you’d find in your own kitchen, so even when you’re short on time you can still be confident, you’re making a healthy choice for your children – as well as serving up something that they’ll actually want to eat”.
Fiona Ashcroft, CEO of Alder Hey Children’s Charity, said: “We are thrilled to be part of this fantastic partnership with Mumsnet and Iceland, which not only provides families across the UK with simple, nutritious, and convenient meal options, but also helps to support the specialist care we provide for our young patients and their families.
“Every purchase will contribute directly to Alder Hey, funding life-saving equipment, pioneering research, and innovative projects that make a real difference to children’s healthcare. We’re incredibly grateful to Mumsnet and Iceland for their support, giving families peace of mind that they’re not just choosing a healthy meal, but also helping to support one of the UK’s leading children’s hospitals.”
